2309 Pages in 72 Hours = 32 Pages An Hour — If They Don’t Think Or Sleep

To vote on this bill without weeks of vetting, thinking, examining, soul-searching, is irresponsible at the very least. We aren’t saying that it must be bad, (though it seems less than optimal.) We aren’t rendering an opinion about what is in there at all. We are saying that 72 hours isn’t even remotely realistic. If Pelosi calls for a vote on this matter without allowing them the time to read and analyze it, she stomps hard atop grounds for impeachment.

From The Trenches #5 — Taking Personal Responsibility

It’s not okay to try to blame a doctor for a bad outcome after abusing your body with wild abandon for years…Similarly, a physician may want to just write a check for Medical Malpractice Insurance and forget the subject of malpractice until the same time next year. But if you do, you’re just as responsible for a bad outcome as the patient who abuses his body for decades and then presents with chest pains in the ER.

38 States Poised to Sue Federal Government Over Mandatory Health Care Insurance Requirement

But even if it passes in the next few days and the President signs it, the battle is still far from over.

Kucinich and Kildee Switch Votes on Health Care Reform bill, Deeming Arises

Kucinich went on to explain that he changed his position because he realized that it was better to pass a bill that can be changed than to pass nothing at all… Representative Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) had also been opposed to the bill, but his objection was that he didn’t want to vote for government-funded abortions. Earlier today, he said the abortion restrictions were sufficient to win his vote, though. He expressed that he felt the sanctity of life for the 31,000,000 Americans without health insurance was a pretty strong motivation to vote in favor of it.

GOP Leadership Admits to Intentionally Obstructing Senate

McConnell’s goal is to weaken the Democratic majority, to block them and make them seem ineffective and foolish as often as possible. Some might say all is fair in love and war. Others might call that Treason… At the very least, that’s downright unAmerican.

House Rules Committee Meeting On Friday, But Still No Real Health Care Reform

Why was it possible to even consider the Special Deals, but not Tort Reform? How come the entire subject of Defensive Medicine is not being addressed? The pink elephant in the living room isn’t going to go away, and the word “Reform” cannot be justified while it remains absent from whatever it is that our Congress is putting forth.

Special Deals Boost Support for Health Care Reform Reconciliation Bill

One would hope the bill would be the right thing for America, as President Obama frequently claims. That being the case, why are individual representatives demanding exclusive concessions in exchange for their vote? Is this indicative of a flaw in the bill, or the greed of those representatives?

Reconciliation In Motion, Republicans Remain Opposed

While it’s true that the longest journey begins with the first steps, but people should know that they’ll be paying for it via taxes long before they receive any of it.

Obama: Insurance Carriers Reduce Profits, Legislators Put Aside Politics, But No Tort Reform

Both legislators and the health care industry seem keenly aware that just lowering premiums isn’t going to resolve the issue, that wastes and other reform will be necessary, and they claim to be working on that. The one thing that still isn’t being addressed is Tort Reform. No one wants to talk about the ugly pink elephant in the living room. Unless steps are taken to gain a comprehensive, sweeping reformation, it’s unlikely that these changes will ever result in a meaningful difference in the way that healing is practiced.

Senate OKs Extensions of Medicare SGR, Medicaid, Unemployment & COBRA — Bill Awaits House Approval

SGR definitely needs to be replaced. These recurring short-term fixes leave us unclear why Congress doesn’t just pass a medium or long duration funding (to protect the continuity of healthcare benefits) and then set about changing the SGR system with future legislation. However it is paid for, citizens will still need to benefits.
